Larisa Dolina

Larisa Dolina is considered one of the finest singers in Russia, a pop star who can sing jazz, rock and classical music. She began her career as a jazz vocalist before branching out in other directions, returning to jazz on a regular basis. Performing an average of 150 concerts a year since 1985, she has sold over 10 million records. Dolina has also been heard in more than 80 films and cartoons, ghosting the voices of actresses. She put together a program in 1981 with Anatoly Kroll called “The Anthology of Jazz Vocal” in which she sang in many styles, from spirituals to disco. She has worked as an actress in musicals and starred in the rock-opera Giordano. Dolina performed at a 1990 concert in France with Michel Legrand, recorded a rock album in 1995, and in 1997 revitalized show tunes with an orchestra. Much honored in Russia, she has toured the United States and Europe. Dolina performed with Ray Charles in 2000 at a Moscow concert. In 2002 she sang in the show “Carnival of Jazz” with Igor Butman’s group and guitarist Mark Whitfield. In addition, Dolina has appeared in concert with Randy Brecker and saxophonist Bill Evans, recorded a duet with Al Jarreau, and made an album with George Duke.
