Gabriele Poso is an Italian guitarist and percussionist who performs music that is very difficult to classify but is quite infectious. He was born in Sardinia in 1978, growing up in Lecce in the south of Italy. Poso first discovered music through his father’s extensive record collection. He studied several different instruments before he settled on the guitar and, later, percussion. In 1998 Poso began studying Afro-Cuban rhythms in Timba Institute in Rome. Further musical studies took place in the Escuela Nacional De Arte of Havana and the Universitad Interamericana DE Puerto Rico in San Juan. After all of this studying, he began playing regularly in Europe, performing with Osunlade, Nicola Conte and the Yoruba Soul Orchestra. Poso made his recording debut as a leader in 2008 with the CD From the Genuine World. He wrote all of the songs and his music includes aspects of his Italian heritage plus his strong interests in Afro-Cuban, jazz and soul music.
