Evgeney Lebedev

“Evgeny Lebedev’s World Trio” is a collaboration of three young musicians from different parts of the world, with absolutely different cultural and musical backgrounds. This is why the crossing of musical and cultural borders is an essential aspect of this trio.

Every participant of the band has absorbed musical traditions of his own country and added them to the sound of the trio, using the jazz idiom, but the band does not regard itself as a straight jazz or folk ensemble. The program of the trio is based mostly on music written by pianist Evgeny Lebedev whose musical background consists of European classical traditions, middle-eastern folk music and Jazz, that he studied in the world’s renowned Berklee College Of Music after having received a degree from Russian Academy Of Music in Moscow. Evgeny played and recorded in a professional settings with such musicians as: Marcus Miller, David Sanchez, Jack DeJohnette, Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Fiuczynski, Joe Lovano and others. Evgeny is the second prizewinner and silver medal holder of the 1st Moscow International Competition of Jazz Performers (piano). In 2006, his composition “24th of May” won a prize in the Blink Music Competition. Evgeny appears on more than 10 CD’s and has released two albums under his own name, that were highly noted by critics in Japan, USA and Russia. During his studies at Berklee College, Evgeny received the Piano Award, and the prestigious Billboard Award.

Growing up on the road with parents-musicians, and beginning to play drums at

area. He currently plays in the Mike Tucker Quartet and you can also see him
perform every Friday and Saturday night at the historic Wally’s Cafe with the
Jason Palmer Quintet. While at Berklee, Lee was a member of Phil Wilson’s
Rainbow Band and Greg Hopkins’ Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra along
with many student groups performing all around. Recently
, he has done tours in Japan and Europe and gigged with such artists as George
Garzone, Hal Crook, Jason Palmer (Greg Osby), Esperanza Spaulding (Joe Lovano), David
Gilmore (Wayne Shorter), Lawrence Fields (Jeff “Tain” Watts), the Kendrick Oliver
New Life Jazz Orchestra, John Lockwood, Julian Lage (Gary Burton), and many more.
