Ava Lemert

Ava Lemert, the Singing Saxstress of Soul™ is making noise in the jazz and R&B/soul community.

Why? Ava is simply… different.

Ava Lemert is a many-faceted talent, blessed with an immense, soulful voice to deliver her own lyrics and compositions. As an arranger and producer, Ava is also able to create music for film, TV and commercials. What’s so rare and intriguing about Ava as an artist is that she is also an accomplished saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, who enjoys bringing her music right into the audience. There’s so much more to this ‘5-foot 1-derwoman’ of song. That might be why Ava Lemert is also known as ‘Tiny DynaMite.’

The glimmer of Ava’s many talents has caught the eye of some impressive names in the music business. “Working on a Groovy Thing,” the only cover on Ava’s latest album 12welve, was produced and arranged by Tower of Power keyboardist, Roger Smith. With a fresh arrangement, luscious strings, vocal harmonies and Ava’s sizzling sax, the song is reborn with Ava’s unique, signature sound. In 2012 alone, Ava garnered many regional and national awards and nominations and the industry is starting to take note and jump on-board with spin requests, appearances and much more for Ava in 2013 as a result.

Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival, 2012

Ava recently made her first appearance in October, 2012 at the 26th Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival, where she performed as both vocalist and saxophonist for Brian O’Neal as well as a special guest of venerable British guitarist, Peter White during his encore funk medley.

Looking Ahead…

Ava’s first music video, released in January, 2013, for her hauntingly beautiful vocal/saxophone original song “When the Night Falls” is a beautiful, emotional, visual feast. The video has been getting Ava some attention and has garnered her next big performance opportunity, her very own show at Spaghettini Grill in Seal Beach, July 21st, 2013. With a busy schedule, Ava has found time to craft even more unique signature songs as well as releasing an EP of covers on May 5th, 2013 titled “Ava L Soul.” The EP will feature a unique reversal of roles in “Me and Mr. Jones” as well as Ava’s incredibly smooth voice and saxophone work on the Sade classic “Your Love is King” with an elegant, new arrangement. The EP will also have Ava’s signature sax/vocal one-two punch on “If I Can’t Have You” made famous by Yvonne Elliman and her own sultry rendition of “Ooh, Baby Baby” complete with white-hot alto sax riffs and Ava’s oh-so-smooth vocals. Also planned for release in late 2013 is Ava’s first bi-lingual (English/Spanish) original latin funk boogaloo tune “Te Quiero, Mi Amor.” If you enjoy variety in your musical choices, you simply MUST start your Ava Lemert collection now.
