If you’re willing to let your son or daughter go to Las Vegas for a weekend, there’s a chance they might learn something – and we’re not talking about how to throw craps or beat the one-armed bandit. Actually, the American Federation of Musicians is hosting the Young Sounds 2001 Music Careers conference for young adults June 23-25 at the Reed-Whipple Cultural Center. Attendees will be able to meet internationally recognized artists in jazz and hip-hop and have the opportunity to audition for two all-star ensembles. The conference will culminate with a gala performance at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza Amphitheater on June 25.
