Wynton Marsalis Urges Congressional Arts Support

Wynton Marsalis, the trumpeter who also who serves as the Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, urged Congress in a March 30 speech to provide more support for the arts to help restore America’s integrity through its culture. Marsalis delivered the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy during National Arts Advocacy Day at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center.

Marsalis punctuated his tale of the American experience with musical performances by members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra: Chris Crenshaw, Victor Goines, Carlos Henriquez, Ali Jackson and Dan Nimmer.
