Woody Allen to Kick Off Rochester Jazz Festival

They announced their festival dates waaaay back in November and the organizers of the Rochester Jazz Festival still won’t announce performers until April 6. But those tricky people have blessed us with this: Headlining the fifth annual festival will be the inaugural U.S. tour performance of Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band in an exclusive benefit concert June 9. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund.

Tickets went on sale this morning through Ticketmaster, and Ticket Express at the Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, N.Y. Prices range from $50 to $95.

Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band have been performing for over 25 years, but usually in Europe or at the Café Carlyle in New York City. This concert marks a rare performance at a large venue.

The festival is set to be held June 9-17 and will feature more than 100 concerts and 500 musicians at multiple venues.
