Vinyl Junkies to Get Their Fix in Jersey

True jazz fans listen to their favorite recordings on vinyl, not those little shiny things. Finding that precious vinyl, however, isn’t always easy. Searching through the stacks of mildew-ridden LPs at the local thrift store usually leaves you with nothing but scratched Herb Alpert records and a not-so-fresh feeling in the hands. You come away disappointed and in serious need of a wet-nap. Fortunately, there is a better way to get those elusive Trane bootlegs and first-pressing Blue Notes.

The 30th Annual VJM Collector’s Fair and Bash promises to be an event vinyl collectors will not be disappointed with. On June 22-23, tables of rare 78s and choice 12″ sides will fill the Holiday Inn on Route 529 in South Plainfield, New Jersey, offering collectors the chance to fill the holes in their collections. In addition to the record sale, film producer/screenwriter Joe Lauro will host an evening of rare jazz and blues films.

A $25 admission price covers the entire Friday-Saturday event. Admission discounts are available when buying tickets in advance and there is a Saturday-only admission price of $12. Dealer tables are $80 each and include one admission for each table. For more information, call (610) 964-1115.
