Vintage Tony Bennett Reissued

Fans of classic Tony Bennett (pictured) will be on cloud nine with the reissue of Cloud 7, Bennett’s first long-playing album, originally released by Columbia Records in 1955. Appearing on CD for the first time, the disc is out tomorrow, August 10.

The CD comes as part of Columbia’s Tony Bennett Master Series and preserves the cover art, track listing, and liner notes of the original LP, adding remastered sound and additional liner notes by Jonathan Schwartz of XM Satellite Radio.

Cloud 7 was originally released on the heels of Bennett’s initial wave of stardom, popularity garnered via a string of pop hits, beginning with “Because Of You” in 1951. The album features Bennett pursuing the jazz lean that would become an integral aspect of his sound on subsequent recordings. A great deal of Cloud 7‘s jazz appeal can be credited to bebop guitarist Chuck Wayne being featured. Wayne’s airy and sophisticated improvisations are a fine complement to the young Bennett’s buoyant, casual croon.

Track list for Cloud 7:

I Fall In Love Too Easily

My Baby Just Cares For Me

My Heart Tells Me (Should I Believe My Heart)

Old Devil Moon
