U.P. Wilson: On My Way

Incendiary guitar slinger U.P. Wilson states his case boldly with On My Way (Fedora 5014; 53:16). This collection of 1988 recordings by the West Dallas resident includes frantic versions of Albert King’s “Cross Cut Saw,” Little Walter’s “Mean Old World” and Lowell Fulson’s “Reconsider Baby,” although it’s raucous Wilson originals like “Bluebird Boog-a-Loo,” “Como Station,” “Slice ‘n’ Dice” and the title track that explains why Stevie Ray Vaughan considered U.P. one of his favorite Texas guitar players.
