Two Radio Programs Planned for Jarrett’s 60th Birthday

With over 70 releases to his name, including his latest release Radiance on Tuesday, pianist Keith Jarrett is prepared to celebrate his 60th birthday on Sunday. In honor of Jarrett, two New York area radio stations are broadcasting celebratory programs, both of which are also available online.

Bill Kirchner has taped a new “Jazz from the Archive” show, which will feature an hour-long survey of Jarrett’s career with music from Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Charlie Haden, Gay Peacock and Jack DeJohnette. The show will air Sunday on WBGO 88.3 (or at www.wbgo.org) from 11 p.m. to midnight EDT.

Sara Fishko’s 2003 interview, “An Hour with Keith Jarrett,” will be re-broadcast Sunday on WNYC 93.0 (or at www.wnyc.org) from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.
