Trumpeter Terence Blanchard to Join Herbie Hancock for European Tour

Grammy-winning trumpet player/film composer Terence Blanchard will be joining Herbie Hancock’s three-month tour of Europe commencing at the Opera House in Vienna, Austria, on September 30th. The tour, which runs through the beginning of December, includes stops in Germany, Luxembourg, France, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, the UK, Greece, Russian and Poland, with additional dates to be added.

Joining Blanchard and keyboardist Hancock for the tour will be bassist James Genus, Lionel Loueke on guitar, harmonica player Gregoire Maret and Kendrick Scott (of the Terence Blanchard Quintet) on drums. Both Blanchard and Hancock received Grammy Awards in 2008 for their latest CD’s, A Tale of God’s Will (A Requiem For Katrina) and River: The Joni Letters, respectively. The tour will initially take in 37 cities, with additional dates still being added.
