Tony Bennett and K.D. Lang have announced they will tour together this summer. The pair will kick it off in Portland, Maine on July 25 and tour through 21 other states before wrapping it up September 29 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
A somewhat odd coupling of musicians (Bennett the veteran jazz crooner and Lang the alt-country star), the two have been friends since they played together in 1994 at Bennett’s MTV Unplugged performance. Bennett is currently working on a new record, set for a fall release entitled Playing With My Friends: Bennett Sings the Blues. The album will feature recent collaborations between Bennett and artists like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Diana Krall, Sheryl Crow.
Lang, who will also appear on the new Bennett disc, will release CD, DVD and video versions of her A&E “Live By Request” special August 14.
