Jazzheads in the Washington, D.C. area will have the chance to hone their playing skills with a three-day jazz workshop led by Towson University jazz professor Jeff Antoniuk. “Maryland Summer Jazz 2005” will take place from July 20-22 and is open to adults of all levels and advanced high school students, with enrollment capped at 36 students.
The workshop focuses on playing and improvising in the small group setting, with classes such as improv concepts and student/faculty combos. Classes run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with a final concert on Friday evening featuring performances by the Jazz Update, faculty and students.
The registration fee is $365 for advance registration by June 1; $405 for registration between June 1 and June 30; and $175 per day for auditors with payment between June 1 and June 30. Further details on the application procedure are available at www.marylandsummerjazz.com.
