Two saxes are better than one, and three are better than two. It’s worked for the Sax Pack, a popular smooth-jazz tour that’s gigging for a few years now with Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole and Kim Waters, all smooth stalwarts. They now have a CD to sell at shows, and many of the tunes will be familiar to fans of the show, especially “Tequila” (here with a typically bluesy guitar soloing by Jeff Golub), “You Are My Starship” and “The World Is a Ghetto.” The saxes work in tandem, of course, with all three on tenor and Waters handling the soprano. There are plenty of opportunities for solos, too, and the Terrific Trio goes to town frequently.
