The Kaye Playhouse Series

From June 24-26 the Kaye Playhouse of Hunter College will host three concerts in conjunction with the JVC Jazz Festival in New York.

On Mon., June 24, Barbara Lea, Marian McPartland, Bucky Pizzarelli and others will be on the stage for a benefit concert entitled “We Remember Teddi King,” in memory of the singer who succumbed to Lupus at the age of 48. Tickets for this event are available through the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Foundation by calling (212) 685-4118.

On Tue., June 25, Bill Charlap, Joe Cocuzzo, Russell Malone and others will pull out all the stops for “Happy 80th Gentleman John: A Birthday Salute to John Bunch.” The pianist, who’s played with the likes of Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Gene Krupa, hasn’t let age slow him down. He still “swings at festivals and clubs around the world.” This event is also a benefit show with proceeds going to the Jazz Foundation of America.

Rounding out the three-night stand on Wed., June 26 is a Penthouse Serenade, featuring chanteuse Jane Monheit (pictured), Barbara Carroll & Trio and the Peter Cincotti Quartet.

Tickets for concerts at the Kaye Playhouse are available at the Kaye Playhouse Box Office located on East 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, or by calling (212) 772-4448. For more information visit the official JVC Jazz Festival-New York website at www.festivalproductions.net.
