Tanglewood, Detroit & Vancouver Festivals Announce Lineups

Three major jazz festivals have announced the schedules for their 2009 events.

The 30th anniversary edition of the Detroit International Jazz Festival will take place September 4 through September 7, in downtown Detroit. Performers will include Hank Jones, Monk on Monk, Corea, Clark & White, Dave Brubeck, Brubeck Brothers Quartet, the Clayton Brothers, Wayne Shorter Quartet featuring Brian Blade, John Patitucci & Danilo Perez, Sheila Jordan, John Pizzarelli Quartet with special guest Bucky Pizzarelli, Christian McBride and Inside Straight, Chuchito Valdés Quartet, Larry Coryell Trio with special guest Julian Coryell, the Heath Brothers, Louis Hayes & the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band, the Carl Allen & Rodney Whitaker Project, Sean Jones Quintet, Stefon Harris & Blackout, Alfredo Rodriguez, Eddie Daniels with the Wayne State University Big Band, Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, and Irma Thomas.
