Taking Stock in Jazz

It seems our musical heritage holds it’s value, no matter what may be happening to the stock market. Industry sources say that several top lots failed to find buyers recently at an entertainment memorabilia auction held at Christie’s. Musical items, however, surprised auctioneers; a Keith Richards guitar, expected to go for $3,000 to $5,000 sold for $14,100, while Miles Davis’ engraved Martin trumpet expected to go for $18,000 brought in nearly four times that with the final bid settling at $70,500 including commission.
