The South by Southwest (SXSW) music convention will pay homage to Miles Davis and the 50th anniversary of his landmark album Kind of Blue with a Q&A session scheduled for Thursday, March 19 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The panel will be headed by moderator Ashley Kahn, noted author of Kind of Blue: The Making of The Miles Davis Masterpiece; journalist David Fricke, senior reporter of Rolling Stone; legendary producer George Avakian (age 90, who discovered and signed Miles), and Miles Davis Properties, LLC representatives Erin Davis (son of Miles) and Vince Wilburn, Jr. (nephew of Miles). All attendees will be gifted with Kind of Blue giveaways, including Kind of Blue – 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition box sets (via raffle); Kind of Blue Legacy Edition (deluxe two-CD set); Kind of Blue posters and t-shirts and Evolution of the Groove EPs.
