Stan Getz: Yours and Mine

Stan Getz traveled the world with several key components in his bag of tricks: one of the most recognizable and beautiful sounds of any tenor player; a melodic gift that few have equaled; and, usually, a first rate rhythm section. This recital, originally broadcast live from the Glasgow International Jazz Festival by the BBC in 1989, finds Getz writing the final chapters of his distinguished career in fine form and great company: pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Ray Drummond and drummer Ben Riley follow the leader nuance for nuance. The title track, Thad Jones’ gorgeous ballad, is the high point of the set, but the overall level is quite high.
