Spaccanapoli: Lost Souls

Deeper into the heart of Italy comes the group Spaccanapoli (formerly known as E Zezi), a gutsy gathering of musicians from the working quarters of Naples-who actually have day gigs in factories, requiring permission to go out on tour. The band’s new album, Lost Souls is a rollicking expression of folk-music values from the Neopolitan region. Despite its acoustic nature, teeming with the organic stuff of accordions, violins, mandolins, real-time percussion et al., the music has a certain raw quality akin to rock that has drawn crowds, accordingly.
