So You Want To Be a Jazz Star…

Grab your rhythm section: The Kennedy Center wants to sponsor your jazz trio. Along with the Department of State, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is co-sponsoring competitive auditions for a 2001-2002 Jazz Ambassadors Program which will send seven trios overseas to perform. The chosen trios will travel on four- to six-week tours arranged by U.S. Embassies in Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia where jazz performers do not frequently visit. In addition to public concerts, Jazz Ambassadors will conduct master classes and lecture-recitals for musicians. The Department of State will provide all traveling expenses and a modest stipend for each touring musician.
