Smooth Jazz Benefit Raises $3,500

Last month saxophonist Michael Lington (pictured) performed selections from his new album, Everything Must Change (Three Keys), with his band at an benefit concert held at Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store in Washington, DC. The event, which was sponsored by both the department store and Esquire magazine, raised $3,500 for the Whitman-Walker Clinic, a non-profit, community-based health organization that serves the gay and lesbian community in the Washington metropolitan area. Over 200 people attended the event, including Three Keys Music president and pianist Marcus Johnson and Black Entertainment Television executive Michael Lewellen.
Everything Must Change was released in October and has Lington, a smooth jazz player, digging into an R&B bag with smooth-jazz stars like Brian Culbertson, Jeff Lorber, Nathan East, Greg Karukas, Paul Jackson, Jr. and Ricky Lawson.
