Some of the featured musicians include Bill Frisell, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Martha Wainwright, Michelle Shocked, Gary Lucas, Pepe Romero, Sonny Landreth and John Hammond. Concert themes range from an all-day Guitar Marathon focusing on Spanish guitar to tributes to Mississippi John Hurt and Bruce Springsteen.

Participating venues include Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Joe’s Pub, the 92nd Street Y, the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden, Flushing Town Hall, the American Youth Hostel Concert Chapel, and the Monkey.

Podcasts of concerts, interviews, commentary, readings and previously unreleased tracks by festival artists will be available for free download on the iTunes music store (www.itunes.com).

The New York Guitar Festival was founded in 1999 with the intention of broadening the public’s appreciation for guitar by fostering emerging talent, supporting collaborations between musicians and commissioning new works.
