Sila Cevikce: A New Abode

Sila Cevikce hails from Turkey, but she speaks jazz piano with a distinctly American-modernist accent. Her debut, A New Abode, showcases her obvious instrumental expertise and flair for composition while also coming across as a unified ensemble project that makes significant use of point men Rich Perry on tenor saxophone, bassist Adam Armstrong, and drummer Ari Hoenig. (The trio meshes especially well on “In New Abode” and “No Train”)
