Performances by Joshua Redman, Dave Holland, Nicholas Payton, Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, and Geri Allen highlight SFJAZZ Spring Season 2001. The San Francisco Jazz Organization, the largest jazz-presenting organization on the West Coast, has announced its spring schedule packed with a series of concerts, films, family matinees, and education programs under the artistic direction of Joshua Redman. The five-weekend program begins Feb. 16 with a weekend dedicating to trumpeters starring Nicholas Payton and Terence Blanchard. Each weekend explores a particular instrument or theme at various venues throughout the city. The season wraps up on May 27 when the bass weekend concludes with a duo performance between McBride and Redman.
