The 24th annual Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival (SJOR) will feature “jazz for every taste,” from Latin guitarist Luis Villegas to Spyro Gyra. The weekend begins Sept. 22 at the Jazz Party with composer and pianist Michael Leroy as they raise money for SJOR youth scholarships. The following night, Luis Villegas Latin Jazz Quartet will perform two shows at 7 and 9 p.m. and on Sept. 24, 33-year-old pianist Andy Margolis and his Trio return to the SJOR Jam Session.
Also on the 24th is the headlining performance by Spyro Gyra, who will share the stage with trumpeter Winston Byrd, saxophonist James Moody, vocalist Carmen Lundy and the SJOR Youth Jazz Band. The full-day festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The concluding event on Sept. 25 is a Sunday Jazz Brunch with baritone Tuey Connell.
