Second Annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival Hits D.C.

While Washington, D.C. may be best known for its monuments, museums and pandas, it has also served as the stomping grounds of the legendary Duke Ellington.

In tribute to the jazz great, Washington D.C. plays host to the second annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival, boasting some of the world’s top jazz performers in clubs and theaters all over the city.

Performers appearing over the five day program include Mike Stern and Richard Bona (10/4), the Wallace Roney Sextet (10/5), Randy Weston (10/6), Roy Haynes (10/6) and Paquito D’Rivera (10/8), among many others. Saturday, Oct. 7 features a great lineup of free performances on the National Mall from Roy Hargrove, Poncho Sanchez, Dr. John, John Scofield with Mavis Staples and Nasar Abadey & Supernova.
