Screaming Headless Torsos: 1995

The Screaming Headless Torsos, a terribly destructive five piece fronted by outre ax slinger Dave Fiuczynski, is considerably more edgy-compositionally and improv-wise-than your average rock-funk-fusion band. That’s one reason their two recent discs-one live, and one studio recorded in the mid-’90s-still sound fresh. Screaming Headless Torsos 1995 (Fuzelicious Morsels) is a retooled version of a previously released CD. The band’s vocal-fronted, hard-charging amalgam of funk, rock and jazz should be more than a belly full for folks who haven’t heard them before (check the disc-opening “Vinnie” for evidence). And Screaming Headless Torsos 1995’s two bonus tunes will please old and new fans alike: the eye-opening reworking of “Little Wing” (Fuze’s intro is worth the album price alone) and “Something” are amazing enough to get you to wear out your repeat button.
