Sandip Burman Announces American Tour

Tabla player Sandip Burman (pictured left) is bringing his traditional Indian music roots to American jazz soil in Aug. and Sept. for a 30-day tour, entitled “East Meets Jazz.” Burman, who has toured and taught extensively at festivals, performance halls and colleges throughout the world, will team with drummer Steve Smith, bassist Victor Bailey, trumpeter Randy Brecker, violinist Jerry Goodman, guitarist Paul Bollenback, alto saxophonist Dave Pietro and harmonica player Howard Levy, as the artistry of Indian percussion meets modern jazz.

Burman has shared stages and recorded albums with Ravi Shankar, Jack DeJohnette, Al DiMeola, Victor Wooten, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and various other musicians, as well as contributing to Danny Elfman’s soundtrack to Mars Attacks.
