Bass legend Ron Carter’s new album, When Skies Are Grey will be released by Blue Note on February 13th. The album has a subtle Latin feel and according to Blue Note is arguably the most significant and moving album of Carter’s solo career. In addition to two numbers that come
from the classic Latin songbook–“Cubano Chant” and “Besame Mucho”–Carter and company cover the Antonio Carlos Jobim beauty “Corcovado” and work up four of the bassist’s originals. The album features Stephen Scott on piano, Harvey Mason on drums and Steve Kroon on percussion.
