Robert Johnson Blues Foundation Announces Contest

Are you in high school and have a hellhound on your trail? Perhaps stuck at the crossroads? Well, now you can enter the 2007 Gibson Guitar/Robert Johnson Blues Foundation New Generation Award Contest, which will be presented to the year’s most promising young blues musician.

The competition is open to all pentatonic players between (and including) the ages of 12 and 18, as of May 7, 2007. Entries may be received through online sonic-bids or mailed to the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation; all video or DVD entries must be postmarked by March 1, 2007. For rules and an application in downloadable PDF form, visit the Web site at robertjohnsonbluesfoundations.org.

The winner, determined by an elite panel of music industry professionals, will receive a Gibson “Robert Johnson” Edition guitar, a certificate signed by Claud Johnson (Robert’s son) and an invitation to perform at the annual Robert Johnson Blues Foundation Spring Festival, held May 5-6, 2007, in Hazelhurst, Miss.

So don’t sell your soul to the devil just yet.
