The San Francisco Jazz Orchestra will present concerts by Max Roach and Wayne Shorter at the “SFJazz Masters Weekend” June 16-17. On June 16, Shorter will lead a band featuring pianist Danilo Perez, bassist John Pattituci, and Brian Blade on drums. Roach will bring the quartet he has
kept intact for over 20 years with saxophonist Odean Pope, trumpeter Cecil Bridgewater, and bassist Tyrone Brown.
SFJazz has also announced the venues and dates for over 30 free outdoor concerts this summer. Shows featuring a variety of styles from blues to swing to salsa will be held throughout the city from June to October.
