What looks to be one of the most outstanding jazz gatherings to ever take place in southern California, “Groovin’ High: An All-Star Celebration of the Be-Bop Era” hosts an impressive lineup of activities and concerts at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Redondo Beach, May 24-27. Among those scheduled to perform are James Moody (pictured left), Phil Woods, Jimmy Heath, Duke Jordan, Cecil Payne, Terry Gibbs, Stan Levey, and many others. Some of the event’s concerts will be repertory concerts featuring the music of Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and Tadd Dameron. There will also be plenty of panel discussions and film screenings in addition to the concerts.
