Joining the ranks of Green Day, the Dixie Chicks and Neil Young in speaking out against President George W. Bush and his administration comes a variety of jazz and blues artists, united in the new release, Got the Impeach Bush/Cheney Blues.
Now available from Random Chance Records, the collection features artists like beatboxer Baba Israel, singer Bill Withers, singer Pyeng Threadgill (pictured), pianist Jason Lindner and guitarist Grant Green Jr. on 15 anti-war and anti-Bush-themed tracks such as “State of Emergency,” “God of War,” “Mad Cow Breakdown” and “Ballad of a Cluster Bomb.”
Included in the liner notes is a message from Random Chance’s Rick Congress: “Times of crisis and turmoil produce not only political criticism and protest movements but also bring forth strong musical statements. These times are no exception.” Congress also urges listeners to speak out against the Bush administration and support organizations like Democracy Now! and the Center for Constitutional Rights, echoing the lyrics of “Jump and Shout” by Howard Glazer: “History repeats if you don’t watch out/Speak your mind and jump and shout.”
Got the Impeach Bush/Cheney Blues is available at randomchancerecords.com or through online retailers for $14.99.Originally Published
