Pianists Renee Rosnes and Bill Charlap Wed in New York

Jazz pianists Renee Rosnes and Bill Charlap were married on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center complex where both have performed.

The bride, 45, records and tours with the San Francisco Jazz Collective, an octet for which she also has composed and arranged music. She has released nine recordings on Blue Note since signing to the label in 1990. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, she is the adopted daughter of Henry Rosnes and the late Audrey Rosnes, who lived in Vancouver, B.C. She is the biological daughter of Mohinder Randhawa of Lake Cowichan, B.C., and will retain her maiden name.

The groom, 40, has been the artistic director of the 92nd Street Y’s Jazz in July Concert series since 2004, and has also produced concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Center. He joined the Phil Woods Quintet in 1995, and since 1997 has been part of a trio with drummer Kenny Washington and bassist Peter Washington. Charlap has also been a favored pianist of Tony Bennett. He is the son of the late Broadway composer Mark “Moose” Charlap and Sandy Stewart, a cabaret and jazz singer with whom he periodically records and performs.

The couple first performed together in Japan in 2003, and they each headline annually at the Village Vanguard.
