Page Cavanaugh, Singer-Pianist, is Dead at 86

Page Cavanaugh, a pianist and singer whose popularity peaked during the 1940s and ’50s, died of kidney failure Dec. 19 at a nursing home in San Fernando Valley. He was 86.

Cavanaugh’ trio was popular primarily in southern California, where it performed regularly at nightclubs. Early in their career, the Page Cavanaugh Trio also appeared with Frank Sinatra on his Songs By Sinatra radio show and on NBC Radio’s Jack Paar Show. They also appeared in such films as Romance on the High Seas, A Song Is Born, Big City and Lullaby of Broadway. Among the group’s best-selling recordings were “The Three Bears,” “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home” and “All of Me.” They also recorded Sinatra, Doris Day Peggy Lee, and other singers. Cavanaugh’s most recent CD was released 2006’s Return to Elegance.
