This Sunday, the music of both Jerry Orbach (pictured) and Cy Coleman will be featured on the radio show Everything Old is New Again as a tribute to the late artists.
Listeners will hear songs spanning Orbach’s musical career, including his performances of “Mack the Knife,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and “Try to Remember.” Orbach spent nearly 20 years onstage as a leading man in many Broadway comedies before taking on film and television roles. He took on the role of detective Lenny Briscoe in 1992 in the television series Law and Order and remained in the role until early 2004.
Cy Coleman is best known as a Broadway composer, composing songs such as “Witchcraft” and “Big Spender.” Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand were some of the names that performed his compositions. He will be remembered on Everything Old is New Again through four renditions of “It Amazes Me,” performed by Tony Bennett, Liza Minnelli, Kitty Kallen and Julie Wilson.
Everything Old is New Again can be heard Sundays from 9-11 pm on New York City’s WBAI 99.5 and on the Internet at www.oldisnew.org.
