New Instructional DVDs From Walter Beasley

Warner Bros. Publications recently released two released instructional DVDs from saxophonist Walter Beasley, Sound Production for the Saxophone and Hip Hop Improvisation. Both DVDs include a mix of theoretical discussions, practical tips and musical examples performed by Beasley himself.

An hour in length, Sound Production for the Saxophone offers advice on subjects like optimizing sound, improving pitch and unifying registers. The DVD and accompanying CD is meant for players of the alto, soprano or tenor saxophone.

45 minutes in length, Hip-Hop Improvisation offers an in-depth look at grooves/hip-hop improvisation. While Beasley uses the saxophone as tool to present the content, Hip-Hop Improvisation is intended to be used by all melodic instruments. On the DVD, Beasley offers a mix of music and advice that serves as a “one beat, one chord at a time” guide to hip-hop improvisation. Hip-Hop Improvisation is also loaded with special features like printable PDF scores, licks and scales in C, E-flat and B-flat, and a play-along CD.

Sound Production for the Saxophone DVD with CD costs $24.95 and Hip-Hop Improvisation DVD with CD costs $29.95.
