Nat King Cole Saves the Music

The Nat King Cole Estate and Capitol/EMI Music Catalog Marketing have partnered with VH1 Save the Music Foundation and made donations to the nonprofit organization in Cole’s name. The donation was made in conjunction with the upcoming CD and DVD releases of The World of Nat King Cole, which will be released on Jan. 25 and March 1, respectively.

VH1 Save the Music Foundation was created to improve education in public schools by restoring their music programs and raising public awareness about the importance of music education. Since its creation in 1997, nearly $30 million worth of musical instruments have been donated to 1,200 public schools in 80 cities.

Natalie Cole commented on the importance of music when she was growing up and said in a press release, “Naturally, as Nat King Cole’s children, we were surrounded with music from the time we were very young, and music has always played a vital role in all of our lives. We understand the importance of music education in America’s public schools, and as we look forward to the release of The World of Nat King Cole, we are thrilled to join with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation to ensure that in-school music programs are available to children everywhere.”
