Muddy Waters: Paris, 1972

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Muddy Waters, Paris, 1972 (Pablo 5302-2; 52:43)-Previously unreleased concert performance by the king of Chicago blues, with Pinetop Perkins on piano, Calvin Jones on bass, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith on drums, Louis Myers on guitar and George “Mojo” Buford on harmonica. Great renditions of Muddy classics like “Hoochie Coochie Man,” “Honey Bee,” “Rollin’ ‘N’ Tumblin'” and “Got My Mojo Workin'” along with more obscure originals like “Country Jail,” “Clouds In My Heart” and “Lovin’ Man.” The sting of Muddy’s slide guitar cuts like a knife. His deep blue Delta vocals go directly to your soul.
