Synthesizer enthusiasts will gather tonight in New York City for the third annual Moogfest. The home of this year’s electro-fest is B.B. King’s Blues Club, where keyboard aficionados will perform in tribute to synthesizer inventor Bob Moog.
Moog ignited the synthesizer phenomenon in 1965 with the introduction of his namesake electronic keyboard. The instrument received widespread attention in 1968 with Switched-On Bach, a collection of Bach interpretations featuring composer Wendy Carlos on a Moog modular synthesizer.
