Moncef Genoud Signs to Savoy

Savoy Records announced the signing of acclaimed pianist-composer Moncef Genoud, whose label debut, Aqua, is scheduled for release April 4.

Aqua marks Genoud’s 10th release as a bandleader. It was produced by Los Angeles-based Rollin’ Dice Productions and features musicians Michael Brecker, Bill Steward, Scott Colley and Dee Dee Bridgewater. The album contains seven original compositions and three covers, including Coltrane’s “Moment’s Notice” and “Lush Life” by Billy Strayhorn.

Genou, who is blind, was born in Tunisia in 1961 and raised in Switzerland. He began playing piano at age 11 and later earned a degree in music education. He has toured the world and played with Bob Berg, Alvin Queen, Reggie Johnson, Harold Danko, John Stubblefield, Robin Kenyatta and Kenny Davis.
