Miles Davis to Hit the Silver Screen

Oscar-winning actor Don Cheadle is slated to portray legendary trumpeter Miles Davis in an upcoming biopic. The Ocean’s 11 and Hotel Rwanda star will also direct the feature.

Scribes Stephen J. Rivele and Chris Wilkinson will pen the script. The screenwriting duo are no stranger to film biography-they had collaborated on the screenplays for Nixon and Ali and are currently working on a Jackie Robinson biopic.

Davis, after constantly shaping and reshaping the face of jazz, died in 1991. Last year, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; he has been a member of the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame since 1979.
