Mike Piggott: Blues for Stuff and Steph

Mike Piggott belongs to that class of jazz musicians who pass their lives playing every kind of casual and pick-up gig, rarely noticed by press or public but often highly esteemed by their better-known peers. As far as I know, this is his first recording under his own name, though he’s been at it in the greater London area since the early ’70s. What makes him special is simply that he is one of the best swing jazz fiddlers active anywhere, backed effectively here by a piano trio.
