On Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at New York’s Town Hall, a memorial will be held for the recently departed, and internationally celebrated, tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker. Town Hall is located in the heart of Manhattan near Times Square, at 123 West 43rd St.
Brecker, who died Jan. 13th of leukemia at the age of 57-after battling Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) for two years-was born in Philadelphia but spent most of his years in New York. Regarded as one of the most influential saxophonists since the ’60s, he appeared on over 900 albums, earned 11 Grammy Awards and had just released his last album, Wide Angles, in 2004.
