Bobby McFerrin leads a double life in the musical community, as a jazz artist and as a classical composer/conductor. McFerrin will assume the role of conductor on February 25th when he directs the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
A 33-piece ensemble, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is known for its artistic excellence and remarkable versatility of musical styles. McFerrin has served as Creative Chair for the orchestra since 1994. His past work with the orchestra includes leading their performances of Porgy and Bess and touring with them from 1998-1999.
The program February concert will include Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite and Symphony No. 1, Vivaldi’s Concerto in G Minor and McFerrin’s own Solo Improvisations. Information on obtaining tickets to this event is available by calling (310)825-2101.
