Marian McPartland to Receive American Eagle Award

Pianist and radio host Marian McPartland will receive the National Music Council’s American Eagle Award at a ceremony May 31 at New York’s Supper Club. Best known as the host of “Piano Jazz” on National Public Radio, McPartland also maintains a rigorous performance schedule and conducts a number of master class workshops. Composer/arranger Michael Kamen and composer John Corigliano will also be honored with the American Eagle Award. Kamen wrote the score for the film Mr. Holland’s Opus. Corigliano won an Oscar for his score to The Red Violin and won the Pulitzer Prize for his “Symphony No. 2 for String Orchestra.”
