Marcus Roberts to Release First Album in Eight Years

Pianist Marcus Roberts’ New Orleans Meets Harlem, Vol. 1 first new album since 2001’s acclaimed Cole After Midnight, is set for release on March 31 (J-Master Music). The album consists of Roberts’ interpretations of compositions by Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk, plus one original.

Roberts is accompanied on the album by Roland Guerin (bass) and Jason Marsalis

(drums), both of whom have been members of the Marcus Roberts Trio for more than a decade. The album will be released via TuneCore and online.
