Madeleine Peyroux Releases New Album Sept. 12

Once it was elusive, now it’s inescapable. Madeleine Peyroux’s sly Holiday-lifted croon can be heard around the globe, from Newport to Rotterdam to any number of chic coffeehouse chains. The Parisian-spirited singer’s presence will only grow with her new yet-to-be-titled album, slated for release Sept. 12 on Rounder Records.

The album was recorded this past April in Los Angeles under the guidance of Larry Klein, who produced last year’s runaway hit Careless Love. While no specifics in the way of repertoire are available just yet, Klein recently informed the Wall Street Journal that Peyroux’s third disc boasts an “expanded palette.” In an e-mail, Peyroux’s publicity firm revealed that the disc would include “a diverse selection of interpretations and some original material (as on Careless Love).”

Sales of that album continue to impress (it has reached gold status in France, the United Kingdom and Australia, and is approaching that standard in the United States), and Peyroux is scheduled for festivals including Ravinia (June 17), Tower (July 11), North Sea (July 15) and Newport Folk (August 6).
